Our Curriculum

The Pioneers Academy is an independent school that will be providing education for pupils aged from 11 to 16 years. The school is firmly committed to the principle of providing a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils. The school aims to reinforce the commitment to provide the highest quality of learning and teaching.

Purpose

In line with the schools mission statement and vision, the curriculum will:

  • Be embedded within the Islamic Ethos
  • Provide relevant and challenging learning experiences and enable students to become successful learners, confident individuals and future leaders of our community.
  • Support all students to achieve high standards and make outstanding progress in all areas.
  • To ensure that the curriculum incorporates statutory requirements, including the Equality Act of 2010, yet is flexible and relevant to pupils’ needs

The Curriculum at Key Stage 3

At Key Stage 3 students are taught the following subjects:

  • Arabic
  • Art & Design
  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • ICT
  • History
  • Geography
  • Islamic/Religious Studies
  • Maths/English Intervention
  • Physical Education
  • Citizenship/PSHE

The Curriculum at Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4 students are taught the following core subjects:

  • GCSE English Language
  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Science (Separate & combined)
  • GCSE Maths
  • IGCSE Islamiyat
  • Physical Education
  • Citizenship/PSHE

Students will need to choose one subject from each option block (three options in total)

  • Option 1 - GCSE Arabic or GCSE Fine Art
  • Option 2 - GCSE History or GCSE Geography
  • Option 3 - GCSE Business or IGCSE ICT
